Ha Hyun Woo’s strong vocals combined with powerful beats and motivational lyrics make ‘Diamond’ (also known as ‘Stone Block’) the most fitting song in the 2020 Korean drama, ‘Itaewon Class’ (이태원 클라쓰).
As the leader and vocal for the Korean rock band Guckkasten (국카스텐), Ha Hyun Woo (하현우) came into the spotlight through high-profile shows in the 2010’s like The Masked Singer. His flawless live performances and exceptional vocal range can also be seen from the below video of Diamond.
The official English title of this song is Diamond but the original Korean title ‘돌덩이’ loosely means ‘a piece of rock’. But there isn’t an exact English word for this and, as you can see from the lyrics, ‘diamond’ wasn’t a bad choice to go with.

Translated Lyrics to ‘Diamond’ (돌덩이)
Follow the rules as they’ve been written
That’s the way to living a wise life
Live as quietly as a dead mouse
Absurd advice, who does that serve
Go ahead and burn me
I’ll endure it without ever flinching
Go ahead and strike me
It’ll only hurt your own hands
Just watch
You can’t hurt me
I might stumble and fall
But I’ll just get up and rise again
I’ll tell you about me
Pay attention
The more I’m cut and broken
I get stronger and mightier, like a rock
A world too overwhelming to bear
A world especially cruel to me
Everyone turned away
Laughed me off, My pain defined me
Wither and wane
How the world works but don’t confine me to it
It’s alright to be wrong
I’m the one living this life
Just watch
You can’t hurt me
I might stumble and fall
But I’ll just get up and rise again
I’ll tell you about me
Pay attention
The more I’m cut and broken
I get stronger and mightier, like a rock
My way no matter what they say
My way is the only way
I’m putting everything on the line
Keep walking
Again and again
Even if I’m hit and fall
Get up and walk on
One day
At the end of this road
Until I can
Cry out as loud as I want

Found your site with a google search. I’m American and I like having the translation but I would REALLY like it if the words were on the video like subtitles. Since I don’t speak Korean I don’t really know which sound goes with which words… I can guess but it helps if they were displayed at the bottom of the video.
I love this song in Korean and the English words also. I heard from Itaewon Class and just really like it a lot
Great translation!

Hi Marcia!
We’re glad you found us as well 🙂
Ha Hyun Woo is extremely talented but even in Korea he only came into the spotlight in the last few years. Check out his performances in The Masked Singer if you haven’t already!
Cheers,

Yes, I think Gukkasten is a brilliant band.
